Heliamphora or Sun Pitchers are related to American Pitcher Plants (Sarracenia) and Cobra Lily plant (Darlingtonia). And it is dream plant for most of Carnivorous Plant lover, because many of us thought that it is difficult plant since they are found on the remote tabletop mountains in the Guayana Highlands of Southern Venezuela and northern Brazil. Their original habitat is about 6000-8000 feet above sea level.
Few months ago, I have a opportunity to buy heliamphora. So, just get 1 and try it out. Now, the plant is giving me 2 new growing point. 1 of it is shown below and the others still forming… Few pitcher is break because of my careless. For those asked my my garden temperature and humidity, sorry. I dont have those figure. Once I got them, I will update here.

Hi KC, oh Heliamphoras are sold in the tropics! 8-o Do you know what Heliamphora it is…I suppose a hybrid?
Good luck with it!
I´ve read there´s a translation error responsible for these plants called “sun pitchers” in vernacular. Actually Heliamphora means marsh pitcher plant. But the Greek words “helos” for marsh/swamp and “helios” for sun are quite identical and sun pitcher plant would honestly match as well as these plants receive direct sunlight in habitat.
Some tough species and hybrids have also been grown on sunny windowsills in Europe at normal room humidity (approx. 50% rel. humidity). H. minor for example and H. heterodoxa x nutans. Warm nights may cause difficulties at most species. So, I´d recommend to somehow get the night temperature no higher than 20 / 21°C if possible at all. On the other hand I grow H. nutans “Giant form” and H. chimantensis for several weeks without artificial cooling in summer. Temperatures are sometimes 23 / 24°C at night. No problems so far.
Greetings from cold and snowy Germany. ^^
hi Andreas, Im not sure what hybrid is the heli, but, it suppose is a tough sp. that able grow at our tropics whether. Because there is few pots that we got from the same source is doing well at the moment.
